Installation

Unzip the file and upload the XML file with the name marigold-xml to Blogger dashboard -> Theme > Click the arrow next to Customize > Restore:



Edit the Pages widget, select the pages you need and save it.

Drop Down Menus

Edit the Pages widgets and click to add an external link

Type in the name of the drop down menu followed by # as the link

Add another external link to add the drop down menu items.

Make every title start with an underscore.

The result will look like this in Layout:

And on the blog it will look like this:

Social Media

Edit the Social Media gadgets in layout.

Type the name of the social media and add in the link.

Notes: All the social media icons available for this theme are listed in the preview.

When you add Bloglovin’ link make sure to use Bloglovin as the title instead of Bloglovin’.

Header

You can upload a header image if you want and add a description.

If you upload a header image, you can customize the image size to fit the menu bar better.

Homepage logo

You can also upload a second header image below the slider in the Homepage Logo Section.

Adjust the Homepage Logo size in customize > advanced:

Posts slider

The slider will show the latest 6 posts automatically, but you can choose which posts to show instead by adding a label to the widget’s content.

In the example above, I’m showing the posts with the label “Travel” only (labels are case sensitive).

Posts Date

Change the dates format in the Blog Posts gadget’s settings

In layout add the tab titles in these widgets:

In layout add the label names in these widgets, labels are case sensitive so make sure they’re spelled correctly:

About Widget

Upload your image, add content and widget title to these two widgets:

Shop Widget

Currently there are two popular websites where you can generate “shop this” widget:

www.shopstylecollective.com.

www.rewardstyle.com.

Both of these websites will allow you to monetize the traffic you get, but Reward Style will require you apply before you’re accepted to create an account with them.

Instagram Feeds

Create an account on SnapWidget There are multiple free options to choose from:

Instagram Grid:

1. Connect your Instagram account.

2. Select a layout, usually 1 or 2 rows with up to 8 columns.

3. Disable the share buttons if you want.

4. Make sure to enable responsive.

5. Click the blue button to generate the code.

Instagram Slideshow:

1. Connect your Instagram account.

2. Disable the share buttons if you want.

3. Make sure to enable responsive.

4. Click the blue button to generate the code.

Instagram Scrolling:

1. Connect your Instagram account.

2. Change the thumbnail size.

3. The number of photos to show in total.

4. Disable the share buttons if you want.

5. Click the blue button to generate the code.

6. Make sure to change the width to 100% in the code:

Edit the Instagram HTML widget on your blog or add a new HTML/JacaScript widget and paste the code you just generated.

Other Widgets

Share Buttons

the share buttons will also only work when the blog is public and have the buttons enabled.

Number of posts per page

Edit the Blog Posts gadget to choose how many post.

Note: This may not always work due to auto-pagination, so make sure to use Jump Breaks for lengthy posts.

Featured Post

Edit the featured post gadget at the sidebar of the blog and choose a post to feature.

Customization

You can customize the colors and fonts of different widgets on the template.

In Theme > Customize > Advanced, change colors and fonts according to your need and then press Apply to Blog button.

Mobile Template

The theme is already responsive, so feel free to disable the mobile template from the settings.

Note: The preview blog has the mobile template disabled.

Click the arrow next to customize and select mobile settings:
